    School Philosophy

Riverdale School exists to develop and prepare students for a lifelong journey of learning. We offer a collaborative, inclusive, and safe environment for K-6 children to express themselves, learn, and grow into well-rounded students prepared for the adventures of junior high school and beyond.

We believe in academic excellence, paired with sporting activity, and arts, all wrapped up with a focus on environmentalism and learning about the land that surrounds our school. Students at Riverdale School experience smaller class sizes that empower teachers to meet learners where they are at in their educational journey.

Our students leave Riverdale School optimistic and prepared to tackle the next phase in their education both in and outside of the classroom. Fostered through supportive parent-teacher relationships and a safe community filled with folks who look out for one another, Riverdale School sets students up for success in education and life.

2025-26 NEW STUDENTS

For the 2025-26 school year, Riverdale School is full in planned classes in Grades 1, 2, 3 and 5 in the regular program. We will now only accept resident students in these grades whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have newly moved into the school’s attendance area for the regular program. A resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic. Non-resident students can enroll in another Division school with space in planned classes.

Principal Message

Welcome to the 2025–26 School Year at Riverdale School

At Riverdale School, we believe that learning is strongest when it is rooted in community. We value the connections between school, home, and our surrounding River Valley neighbourhood, and we see those relationships as central to helping every child thrive.

Our mission is to provide students with exceptional educational opportunities that encourage academic growth, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for the unique setting we call home. Families play a vital role in that mission, and we are committed to building strong partnerships that support and guide students on their learning journey.

Riverdale is known as a small school with a big heart. That reputation reflects the way our students, staff, families, and neighbours work together, much like an extended family. In this close-knit environment, children feel safe taking risks, exploring their potential, and growing into their authentic selves.

I am honoured to serve as principal and to work alongside such a dedicated team of staff and families. Together, we will continue building on Riverdale’s tradition of excellence while embracing new opportunities that keep student success at the center of all we do.

Here’s to another year of learning, growth, and connection at Riverdale School.

Yours in partnership,

Mrs. Karen Teague, Principal
