Welcome to a New Year at Riverdale School
Dear Riverdale Community,
It is an incredible privilege to begin this school year as the principal of Riverdale School. I am excited to join a community that has such a strong sense of identity and such a deep commitment to its students.
As I’ve gotten to know Riverdale, one thing has become abundantly clear: this is a small school with a very big heart. There is something truly special about being part of such a connected community, where students, staff, families, and neighbours know one another, look out for one another, and share a genuine sense of pride in being part of Riverdale.
I believe that some of the most meaningful learning happens when children feel connected to their teachers, their classmates, their families, their community, and the world around them. Our location in the River Valley provides us with a unique opportunity to make those connections real. It gives our students a place to explore, wonder, ask questions, and experience learning beyond the walls of the classroom.
This year, I want us to continue creating an environment where students feel safe to be themselves, take risks, try new things, and discover what they are capable of. Academic growth will always be important, but so are curiosity, creativity, confidence, kindness, and the ability to work with others. Our goal is to help children grow not only as learners, but as thoughtful and capable young people.
Our families are an important part of that work. I believe strong schools are built through strong relationships between home and school, and I look forward to building those relationships with you. I want our families to feel welcomed, heard, and valued as partners in their children's education.
I am honoured to work alongside the dedicated staff at Riverdale and to become part of this community. Together, we will build on the traditions and strengths that make this school special, while remaining open to new ideas and opportunities that put our students at the centre of all we do.
Most importantly, I want Riverdale to be a place where every child feels that they belong, that they matter, and that they have the opportunity to thrive.
I am grateful for the warm welcome I have already received, and I am looking forward to the year ahead. There is so much to be excited about, and I cannot wait to learn, grow, celebrate, and build together with all of you.
Yours in partnership,
Ms. Laila Sadik
